APICS / Canpolar Science Communication Awards

The APICS / Canpolar Science Communication Awards Program was initiated in 1999. Three awards are bestowed annually as follows:

one to a scientist who best communicates scientific research to the public (first award in 2000);
the second to a professional communicator who writes the best article on a scientific issue for the public (first award in 2001);
a third to an elementary or secondary school teacher who encourages students' interest in science and technology through science fairs, school science clubs, or similar activities (first award in 2002).

  All materials must be received at the APICS office by 4:30 pm Friday     February 11, 2005
The Award
Winners will each be presented with a $500 cash prize and a plaque at the annual meeting of the APICS Council on Friday, 29 April, 2005 at Mt. Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick.
Adjudication
Judging for the three Science Communication awards is done by a committee comprised of a member of APICS Council, up to two others chosen from Council and/or the APICS membership, and the most recent winner in each category. The judging is conducted by mail or e-mail and the committee makes its recommendation to the APICS Executive Committee. Only the Executive has the authority to make the results of the judging process public.
