Welcome to the home page of the Aquaculture & Fisheries Committee
of the Atlantic Provinces Council on the Sciences.
APICS was originally established in 1962 and through the decades has seen growth across scientific and provincial boundaries.
APICS' Aquaculture Committee was created in the early 1990's, and in 2008 was renamed the
Aquaculture and Fisheries Committee to better reflect its work.
The goal of our committee is to
foster and encourage student-to-student and student-to scientist communications in aquaculture and fisheries
related research between universities, as well as other research institutions.
The primary vehicle for achieving this goal is an annual undergraduate and graduate student Aquaculture & Fisheries
Conference. Other mechanisms to achieve this goal include
encouraging student exchanges among research labs, providing support for student attendance
and research presentation at the annual science conference
Aquaculture Canada, and sponsoring visiting scientists on occasion.
I welcome you to explore this website, and to check back for updates. Any comments or questions you might have
would be appreciated!
Regards,
Jim Duston
Chair, Aquaculture and Fisheries Committee
