Report to APICS Council, Fall 2008
Student Conference
The last APICS Psychology Undergraduate Thesis Conference was held on April 30 and
May 1, 2008, and was hosted by the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton). Ms.
Cheryl Techentin and Dr. Carmen Poulin organized the conference.
The conference was extremely successful. There were 51 oral and 34 poster presentations. Attendance was also quite good, with 100 students and 30 faculty members attending the conference. The quality of the presentations were impressive, with everyone doing a fine job at articulating the details of his or research project.
Award Winners
The award winners for the best oral presentations are listed below.
Recipient of the NSERC Award:
Kelly Au, Memorial University of Newfoundland
Recipient of the APICS Presentation Award:
Caitlin Best, St. Francis Xavier University
Recipient of the APICS Science Communication Award:
Stephen Price, Dalhousie University
The award winners for the Best Poster Presentations are listed below.
1) William Johnston – University of New Brunswick (Fredericton)
2) Amanda MacDonald – Dalhousie Univeristy
Lastly, the recipient of the Karen Nicholson Award in Neuropsychology is Natasha
Buchanan of Mount Saint Vincent University.
Next Conference
The next APICS conference will be held at Mount Saint Vincent University on May 6 to
7, 2009, and is being organized by Dr. Angela Birt and Ms. Donna Thompson.
The Psychology division of APICS currently has 15 universities as members.
